Figured it out and yes...you are completely right. I asked them to look into it for me, but they failed to see that I had changed their built-in form sending application from wp-mail to smtp. At the same time I had a plug-in that was sending all wordpress mail via smtp. (Have a thing about my stuff saying WordPress vs. the name I want to see.)
I was able to figure it out by setting up a parallel installation and working step by step, configuration change by configuration change through the setup process. Until I was able to error it out. Once I saw it happen...then I knew and was able to work from there.
