Post to Email: Do I have to set the SMTP ? If yes, where? Or does it just use the SMTP my host use?
You can see my site at pengebloggen.no
Hopefully somebody can give me an answer.

Customers not receiving emails

Hi all,

I have had an on-going problem in which customers are saying they aren’t receiving order confirmation emails. I have contacted my Host provider to ensure SMTP details are correct, and I am using the Postman SMTP plugin that I thought had solved the problem.

When sending a test email – it says it has been sent and sure enough the email turns up in the inbox – so I presumed it was all fixed. But I am still receiving complaints from customers telling me they haven’t yet received an email. Even when I ask them to check their spam folders, nothing. Postman reports that 3000+ emails have been sent so I am confused as to why some people still aren’t getting them.

That’s an important point to mention – SOME people aren’t getting the emails while I presume most of the others are.

I installed Support plus plugin to submit a support ticket to wordpress but haven’t received a reply yet.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I am simply out of option and have no idea how to contact wordpress/they won’t respond.

Thank you all.

Emails going to outlook.com spam folder

Hi there.
Is anyone else having an issue trying to get outlook.com / hotmail.com to receive test emails with postman without going to the spam folder? I had to change my email address to myname@hostgator.com rather than myname@mydomain.com to actually receive the emails in my inbox but I don’t want my email address to be at hostgator.com, I want to use the domain name. It works in Gmail but not Outlook.

Any help is appreciated.

Possible to send email via SMTP

We use SMTP Postman plugin to send emails from our WooCommerce site using our SMTP mail server instead of WordPress’ built-in sendmail (wp-mail.php). However, when I have Postman SMTP activated, I don’t receive the Abandoned Cart Lite test email. Is there a way to utilize Abandoned Cart Lite for WooCommerce with SMTP email sends?

Sending via O365

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been answered but couldn’t find an exact match to my issue. I have tried sending mail via smtp.office365.com on port 587 with TLS and it works fine if I don’t add the From Email Address.

Soon as I add this, the tests and sending times out but if I leave it out, it works but then Postman keeps telling me “Postman is not configured and is mimicking out-of-the-box WordPress email delivery”. I would like to send via O365 and as hoping someone might know a fix for this or has the same issue and found a workaround.

Thanks Reyan

Connection refused (111) error

Hi,

I have set up the Gmail SMTP Version 1.0.6 plugin. When I try to send a test email I get this error:

Connection: opening to ssl://smtp.gmail.com:25, timeout=300, options=array ( ‘ssl’ => array ( ‘verify_peer’ => false, ‘verify_peer_name’ => false, ‘allow_self_signed’ => true, ),)
SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111)
SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

I reviewed the troubleshooting section and tried TLS and SSL, and ports 465, 587, and 25. I logged into my email but I did not get any error saying “Your account has been hacked” or “Somebody stole your password”.

I am running a hosted WordPress server on GoDaddy. Here is the server info:
OS: Linux a2nlwpweb051.prod.iad2.secureserver.net 2.6.32-604.30.3.lve1.3.63.el6.nfsfixes.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 26 11:56:49 MST 2015 x86_64
PHP version: 5.4.45
WordPress version: 4.6.1
WordPress multisite: No
openssl: Available
allow_url_fopen: Enabled
stream_socket_client: Available
fsockopen: Available

I spoke with GoDaddy support and they said they do not block access to external SMTP servers, so the roadblock is not on their end.

Do you know why the test email would fail?

Thanks!

Mike

emails failing with 554 from Mailgun SMTP

$

Using CF7 4.5.1 (which is the current version as of September, as I’m sure you know), I’ve been getting rejected emails from Mailgun since 1 December, but not before. Here’s an example from my maillog:

Dec 3 15:03:36 hostname mta/smtp[11217]: D0E65C80D9: to=<user@domain.com>, relay=smtp.mailgun.org[104.130.177.23]:25, delay=0.4, delays=0.01/0.01/0.22/0.16, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host smtp.mailgun.org[104.130.177.23] said: 554 Sandbox subdomains are for test purposes only. Please add your own domain or add the address to authorized recipients in domain settings. (in reply to end of DATA command))

Because everything has been working fine and because I have never set up Mailgun before and because we have made no changes to our MTA on the server, I’m guessing this is a CF7 problem? How can this be resolved?

General mail settings for Gmail

Hi

I have a subsite (subsite.mydomein.com) and that’s why the webmaster from the main site (mydomein.com) doesn’t want to give a @subsite.mydomein.com.
So for sending newsletters with Tribulant Newsletters I have a problem. I tried to use noreplay@subsite.mydomein.com and replay to me@gmail.com but mails won’t send. or only six and then I got a error.

So I thought I tried to use the Gmail relay services.

I set everything up for gmail:

Administrator Email: me@gmail.com
From Name: me
From Address me@gmail.com
Read Tracking On
Click Tracking On
Mail Type SMTP Server
SMTP Host Name smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port 465
SMTP Protocol SSL
SMTP Authentication On
SMTP Username me@gmail.com
SMTP Password Password

I tried different settings with the SMTP port and protocol, but nothing.

Then I tried Gmail SMTP using OAuth Protocol by creating an App and Generate API Keys for Gmail.

So I’m pretty sure I’m missing something, anybody got any ideas???

Email Authentication mail not being sent to new users

Hi, I did read a couple of threads after searching but couldn’t really find the solution to the problem. There is a conflict whenever a new user registers, they are not receiving the email. I’ve tested this on a new email address that I set up.

I read it may be due to an SMTP plugin conflict.

• We are using a Easy WP SMTP plugin
• The new users show in ‘Users with Unconfirmed Email Address’ – have tried resending activation link manually and that has been received, but not the original?

The register page is here: http://stepparentmagazine.com/register/

Appreciate any help.

Email notifications from bbpress/buddypress inconsistently sending

$

Our forum website uses bbpress and buddypress, along with a “email subscription” plugin called “BuddyPress Group Email Subscription”. We also use “WP-Mail-SMTP”.

When a person posts a reply to a forum topic, notification emails are sent to all members who are subscribed to that forum. We can track that the emails are indeed being triggered to send through the “WP Mail Logging” plugin, which gives us a full log of emails that are supposed to have been sent.

Problem is: only some of them ever arrive at the destination inboxes. And it seems rather random which ones do and don’t.

Because it’s a forum, there may be dozens of emails triggered by any given reply, so I’m not sure if it’s an overload problem (i.e. too many emails at once) or what. Really need some help understanding how wordpress functions to send these emails. It seems that the emails are being triggered to send, but then only some are actually sent. Really frustrating.

Tried getting answers from Dreamhost (our hosting service) but no luck there yet either.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Gmail doesn’t work anymore?

Hi there! Have been using your great plugin for ages, thanks a lot for your work! 🙂

Could it be possible, that the last update broke the Gmail functionality? If I send a test-mail, I get the following debug message:

Gmail SMTP Error: Could not authenticate, blocked sign-in attempt

Seems Google is blocking the app from authenticating because “it has known security problems or is out of date”. Any chance this can get updated so that I don’t have to allowing access to less secure apps? I really don’t want to do that and will look for another option if this is the case. I’d rather try another approach or plugin if I can not make things less secure.

wp_mail_failed Hook

$

WordPress introduced since version 4.4.0 the wp_mail_failed hook after a phpmailerException is caught. Can you add this Hook at the end of the wp_mail function in main.php ?

Also, on our end, we need the defaut catch exception in case some Gmail credentials have been removed from WP or Gmail account, or if the mail can’t be send in any way.

Here’s how we edited the try&catch at the end of main.php

try {
		return $phpmailer->Send();
	} catch ( phpmailerException $e ) {
		$mail_error_data = compact( 'to', 'subject', 'message', 'headers', 'attachments' );
 		do_action( 'wp_mail_failed', new WP_Error( $e->getCode(), $e->getMessage(), $mail_error_data ) );
		return false;
	}
	catch ( Exception $e ) {
		$mail_error_data = compact( 'to', 'subject', 'message', 'headers', 'attachments' );
 		do_action( 'wp_mail_failed', new WP_Error( $e->getCode(), $e->getMessage(), $mail_error_data ) );
		return false;
	}

Thanks

gmail account address overrides “From” address set in plugin settings

I had hoped that this plugin would allow me to set the “from” address in the headers of outgoing emails, based on the features listed on the main page. However, gmail rewrites the headers to replace my specified “from” with the actual ______@gmail.com address being used. Is there something I’ve done wrong in configuring this plugin?
